who were you then?

The oldest of three brothers, Cleon knew he wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a powerful trainer. He wanted desperately to become a trainer when he turned 10, but his parents disagreed, wanting him home to help raise his young siblings. Bitter and envious that his father was free to do what he wished, Cleon stayed and looked after his brothers. He heard about Team Plasma’s disbandment the following year and then again several years later, but didn’t pay the news much attention.

He was finally allowed to leave home when he was 15, and eagerly left his brothers behind. He picked Snivy as his starter and set his sights on the Elite Four, determined to make up for lost time. Cleon pushed his team hard, choosing and keeping only the strongest for his core party. The teen tore through the Gym Leaders as fast as he could, facing the Elite Four a matter of months after he started.

And lost.

Frustrated, he went back to training, removing several Pokemon from his team who he deemed had not preformed well and catching and training new ones to replace them. Confident in his improved team, Cleon challenged the Elite Four again. And lost again.

This started a cycle of Cleon catching and training new Pokemon, challenging the Elite Four, and inevitably losing to one of them. Again and again he tried, sometimes getting as far as the Champion before being defeated. Five years passed in this manner, Cleon becoming increasingly more bitter and cold as his failures mounted. He was preparing for his next attempt when an Ultra Wormhole scooped him up and deposited him in Agresti, where he quickly realized there was nothing holding him back from the greatness he so craved.

who are you now?

Cleon doesn’t care that he doesn’t remember some things, deeming whatever he forgot as not worth remembering anyway. He’s more focused on becoming the top trainer in this new land, and is willing to do whatever it takes to achieve his goal. He views the Explorer’s Guild as a bunch of well-meaning but softhearted trainers, too focused on protecting those who can’t protect themselves over using their own strength to build the region up so they don’t need to act as bodyguards. Cleon values strength above all else, and will only acknowledge those who are strong, deeming those who aren’t not worthy of his attention.

He carries a retractable whip, mostly to protect himself against wild Pokemon and and to make sure his Pokemon don't disobey him.
